ANNUAL REPORT, 2019-2020
Greetings and Warm welcome to each and every one present in this August gathering!!!
I feel privileged to present before you now the Annual Report for the academic year 2018-2019.

At Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Pathanamthitta Kendra, we believe that quality education is not just about assimilating knowledge but igniting in the young impressionable mind a passion for learning. Since its inception in 2007 the institution has gained great heights of excellence with every passing year. Today BVM, Pathanamthitta with around 1000 students, around 100 teaching and non-teaching staff is the most sorts after school in the District. Staff council is headed by our staff secretary Mrs. Manjulatha T.
We constantly strive to better our facilities and methodologies so that we can provide a platform that nurtures unique individual thinking minds. It has been our abiding principle to hold the potential of not only the best but also of those who are not academically inclined and help them identify their skills and potential.
I am happy to present the Annual Report which showcases the glories and achievements of the year gone by.
Mrs. Suvarna Sasi took charge as a principal 01st Jan, 2020 and played an active role in smooth conduct of Board Examination.
The results were indeed sparkling, when the results of AISSE/AISSCE – 2019 was declared in May, 2019. We presented 59 students from class X and 20 students from class XII. From class XII, Sahil Muhammed A (95.2%) and Arjun Jeevakumar Nair (94.8%) secured A1 in all subjects and from class X Hridya B (95.8%). Kevin Presoon Kuruvila (95.4%) and John Thomas Maruthathu (95%) secured A1 in all the subjects.

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA)
The Parent Teacher Association is a vibrant entity in the life of the school. Our PTA is instrumental in promoting close relationship between home and the school. A parent representative from each class was selected as the PTA executive Member. Mrs. Anu Mary Binu is our PTA President.
SCHOOL MANAGING COMMITTEE (SMC)
We have a vibrant SMC comprising of 20 members.
The doors of BVM Pathanamthitta once again opened to seek, find and explore the creative talents of Bhavanites. The wonderful gathering witnessed the true spirit of academic year. New students were given warm welcome by presenting them with flowers.
We had our school election conducted in the month of July and Head boy, Head girl, Captains and Vice Captains were elected of different houses. Elected members got their badges pinned on investiture ceremony.
A library with all facilities is functioning in our school. There are more than 6000 books of academic, cultural and scientific significance, in addition to Bhavan’s Publications in education, religion and Indian culture. Class libraries are also functioning.
Examinations and tests are regularly held in the school so as to enhance the learning process. .
External competitive examinations are also there, being optional for the students.
Serious efforts were made to raise the level of slow learners’ performance through remedial coaching. Remedial coaching was conducted every evening after school hours. We thankfully remember the committed efforts of all our teachers.
CO- CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In accordance with the latest exam reforms of the CBSE, care has been taken to provide opportunities for our students to develop new skills in co- scholastic areas. Various clubs have been constituted. The school has a vibrant band set and also provides training in Classical and Modern Music and Dances, Yoga, Sports, Arts, Chess, Anchoring etc.
Different clubs function in the school in an effective way. The students ’creative abilities were enhanced and were given ample opportunity to interact and to contribute for the welfare of the society.
HEALTH CHECK UP
Health checkups for students are done annually by the Health Department of Pathanamthitta.
The final school level Cultural fest was conducted on held on 17th and 18th July, 2020.
ALL KERALA BHAVAN’S CULTURAL FEST (CLASSES I & II)
Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Variyapuram, Pathanamthitta was selected as venue for conducting All Kerala Bhavan’s Cultural Fest for classes I and II. About 60 schools participated in the competition.
As a part of the mental and physical development of our students, attuned to the directives from the CBSE, opportunities are provided for Sports and Games. The Annual School Sports was held on 3rd Sept, 2019, 28th Sept, 2019 and 4th Jan 2020 for classes I – II, III – IV and V – XII respectively.
1ST T. N. VISWANATHAN NAIR INTER SCHOOL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2019-2020
Bhavan’s, Variyapuram, Pathanamthitta conducted the 1st T. N. Viswanathan Nair Inter School Chess Championship 2019 – 2020 on 31st Aug, 2019. The competition was inaugurated by Mr. Rajiv, Volleyball Player. Around 300 students participated in this competition. Our school won the ever rolling trophy. (1st prize)
CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION
This year Children’s day was celebrated at Variyapuram Campus with great vigour and vitality. Students of classes I and II took out a Rally in the school premises dressed as “Chacha Nehru”. Special assembly was conducted incorporating speeches, songs, dance etc.
TEACHER’S DAY CLELEBRATIONS
Teacher’s day celebration took a rare turn this year when teachers came together and took celebration to a whole new level by presenting different cultural programmes.
REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS
On Republic Day, our school participated in the cultural programmes at the District Stadium, Pathanamthitta and won 1st prize.
To outlet the caliber of our students H & C conducted a Book fare on occasion of Reading Week
Counseling classes were given to students on different occasions by eminent personalities. Parents and teachers were also given counseling classes.
CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
Our school had contributed a lot towards environment protection. In addition to this we also have a vegetable garden with different types of vegetables. A well arrangement medicinal garden with a wide variety of medicinal plants is present. A “Nakshatravanam” encompassing plants representing the ‘birth’ stars of individuals is another attraction of our campus. Every year we celebrate June 5th World Environment Day by planting saplings by our students in and around our campus.

MONTH : JUNE 2019
June 3 : School reopening Day
Celebrated in a grand manner and conducted many cultural programmes like welcome song, welcome Dance etc. New students and teachers were honoured with fresh flowers.
June 5 : World Environment Day / ID – UL – FITR
Was a holiday due to ID – UL – FITR. So we celebrated the World Environment Day on 06th of June. Many saplings were planted in the school garden by the students and teachers. Speeches, quiz were also conducted.
June 12: World Day against Child Labour
Students spoke in the assembly about consequences of child labour.
June 19: Day of Reading
Malayalam department conducted many programmes related to this special day. Students had a week long celebrations. Book review was also done in the assembly to introduce various authors and their works.
June 21: World Music Day / International Yoga Day
Special assembly was conducted to celebrate these 2 days. Children performed many vocal and instrumental programmes in connection with World Music Day. Quiz and speeches were also conducted. Display of various Yogasanas and discussions regarding the importance of yoga were conducted in connection with International Yoga Day.
June 26: International Day against Drug abuse and illicit trafficking. Mohammed Ali Jinah from the Excise department conducted a seminar.
MONTH : JULY 2019
July 1 : Vanamahotsav week started
Science department conducted various programmes throughout this week and also saplings were distributed to students and teachers.
July 11 : World Population Day
July 16 : Gurupoornima
Gurusthothram was recited in the assembly.
July 17 : Ramayana month started / school level cultural fest
Ramayana recital started on July 17 and continued up to the last day of ‘Karkidaka’ month.
School level cultural fest was inaugurated by school Principal. Competition extended for 2 days. July 17 & 18.
July 26 : Kargil Victory Day
A rally was held in the school. Students holding placards and with slogans written on it.

This National Festival celebrated in a grand manner. Our National Flag was hoisted at school (Variyapuram) by the school Principal at 8.00 am. National Anthem and National song were also sung.

On Aug 29th being the National Sports Day, Sports department conducted different sports events.
Aug 31 : Inter school chess championship
1st T. N. Viswanathan Nair Memorial Inter School Chess Championship conducted on Aug 31st. Many schools participated and Bhavan’s Variyapuram retained the winner’s trophy.

Sept 5 : Teachers Day
Teachers Day was celebrated in our school by the students of 8th standard and they enacted as teachers and the teachers handed over their one period for them to take the class. Some games were also conducted for the teachers.
Sept 6 : Onam Celebration
Onam the state Festival of Kerala celebrated in a grand way. Various programmes were conducted like Pulikali, Thiruvathira, Chendamelam, Oonjalattom, Onasadya etc. Our school secretary Sri. P.I. Sherief Mohammed was the chief guest of Onam Programme 2019.
Sept 16: Ozone Day
MONTH : OCTOBER 2019
Oct 2 : Gandhi Jayanthi
On Gandhi Jayanthi Day we cleaned our school premises and around 3 to 4 kilometers surrounding places. Senior students and teachers actively participated in this effort. A small exhibition was also conducted in connectiuon with this special day.
Oct 5 : Poojaveppu
On Oct 5th we conducted pojavappu at Variyapuram campus at 6.00 pm
Oct 8 : Vijayadeshami
In Kerala Dasserra is celebrated as “Saraswathi Pooja”.
On Vijayadeshami Day Poojaeduppu and Vidyarambham conducted at Variyapuram Campus. About 16 kids participated for Vidyarambham and after that many cultural programmes were performed by our teachers and students like classical music, classical dance, instrumental music etc.

Bhavan’s Pathanamthitta hosed the Category I & II Cultural Fest. About 30 schools participated in this competition.

This day was observed by our 1st and 2nd standard students. Special Rally was conducted in our school ground. Songs, tableau, fancy dress etc, were conducted for the students.

Flag hoisted in Variyapuram Campus by our school Principal at 8.00 am. At Pathanamthitta District Stadium District level celebrations conducted by the Govt. authority and our school participated for cultural programme and won 1st prize.

National Science Day celebrations were conducted by Science Dept. of our school. Exhibition, speeches, quiz competition etc. were some of the programmes conducted to celebrate this day.
STAFF ORIENTATION & ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME
With the sole purpose of updating teacher’s knowledge, they attended a series of teachers workshop. It was an attempt inclusively engulfed various significant aspects like moral values, life skills, stress management, subjects like English, SS, Science, Maths, Yoga and various academic knowledge. Attendee teachers further shared the knowledge with other fellow teachers widening the sphere of wisdom.
AWAKENED CITIZEN PROGRAMME (ACP) IN ASSOCIATION WITH RAMAKRISHNA MISSION, NEW DELHI
This programme was launched nationwide by the then Union HRD Minister Smt. Smriti Irani on 14th February 2015. This is a three year graded program which, schools can implement for classes VI, VII & VIII or classes VII, VIII & IX. ACP helps students to explore and develop universal values. CBSE made mandatory for all schools to implement this programme. Mrs. Jyothy G and Mrs. Annas P George are the coordinators of the ACP Programme in our school and a coordinator appointed from Ramakrishna Mission visited our school and had an ACP interactive session with the teachers and students.
UPCOMING PROJECTS (2020 - 2021)
1. Setting up of Nature & Adventure Park in Variyapuram campus.
2. Setting up of New Kindergarten block at Variyapuram.
3. Registered for ATAL Tinkering Labs.
In Sports Category,
- Our school won 1st prize in 1st T. N. Viswanathan Memorial Inter School Chess Championship held on 31st Aug, 2019.
- Devanandana J (IX) secured 2nd prize in the CBSE Sports Meet held at Thiruvalla.
- Our students won 1st prizes in various categories of chess competitions held at different venues and secured 17 trophies.
In Arts Category,
- As a part of Swachh Bharat Competition, 6 of our students won State Award and 1 student won National Award.
- Students won 1st prize in drawing and painting competitions at District level also.
- Mrs. Bini Varghese won 3rd prize in High Jump at Masters Athletic Meet held at Kozhikode.
Teamwork is the hallmark of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Pathanamthitta. A committed and supportive management, dedicated teachers, caring and co-operative parents blend harmoniously to create a child-centric school. On this occasion, I wish to express my profound gratitude to our Chairman, Shri. T. K. A. Nair for his valuable support and goodwill extended to the school. My heart-felt thanks to Hon. Secretary, Shri. P. I. Sherief Mohammed and Shri. Sheik Pareeth IAS, the Hon. Treasurer. We are deeply indebted to all the committee members of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, for their keen interest and support in the growth of this institution. I do acknowledge the unflinching support and generous co-operation of the Joint Secretary, Prof. Narayana Swamy P and Shri. Azim Ismail. My sincere thanks to the PTA President, Mrs. Anu Mary Binu, PTA executive committee members , Staff Secretary, Mrs. Manjulatha T, Convenors of various clubs, teaching and non-teaching staff members, who always stood by us for the smooth running and functioning of the school. I take this opportunity to wish all our dear students all the best for their forth coming examinations results.
